Hello all, Just thinking of getting back into armor modeling after about 15 years of figure painting, the odd airplane and a few Maschinen Kreiger kits. The Sherman has always been one of my favorite tanks to model and I am amazed at the new stuff available. Anyway, looking forward to reading more of the great posts here and maybe even picking up a Dragon kit and some Alpine figs to get started on once I get some other projects finished and off of the bench!
Welcome to the forum! Do yourself a favor, and get a Tasca/Asuka kit instead of Dragon, or perhaps Tamiya. The fit is far better on these than on any Dragon Sherman. Tamiya has some detail shortcomings, but at least it goes together well. The Tasca/Asuka kits are expensive but are the best on the market, bar none.
"You could probably use some armor. A Sherman can give you a very nice...edge!"
I agree with Greg, Tasca-Aauka kits are the best sherman kits one the market. Tamiya kits are relatively inexpensive and fit really well. Though I have built a few dragon kits, they just don't appeal to me as well as tamiya or Tasca/Asuka.
As info, the new Tamiya M4A3E8 and firefly are reboxed Tasca kits.
Feel free to make yourself and home and post away!
I love Pennsylvania, especially Philadelphia. We visited in '98 and I fell in love with the cheese steaks sandwiches. Now you know what drives me... Shermans and good food! LOL Of course the history there blew me away and I vow to return someday soon.
Anyway, have fun here and ask if you have any questions about Shermans. There's about a half dozen of us here that know it all!

Thanks for the welcome and information concerning the Tasca kits, I'll have to look into those or the Tamiya re boxing. Chad, I'm in the south eastern part of PA.

Gee viz naw. I live in the Lancaster area.
A tank filled with holes.
For that is what shall become.
Boom we go.
Goodbye.
Say vunce naw! I'm over in Chester County. Do you go to any "local" shows?
The only local/regional show I have ever been to is in the Carlisle area. That was back in 2011. I may go next year. It is an IPMS show. Those shows are much cheaper for me.as y they are only one day.so no motel expenses.

Ah, while I do spend a good amount of time fishing around the Carlisle area, I have never been to that show.If you have any interest in figures, you should consider coming out to the MFCA show in Valley Forge every May. There is always Armor there too!
